About Julia
Julia is the Education Manager at Green Iglu, a non-profit organization that works in partnership with remote Northern communities to grow produce year-round, in greenhouses called Growing Domes. Julia facilitates digital lessons with K-12 students on topics including food security, food sovereignty, nutrition, and botany. She believes that it is through our collective knowledge of these subjects, we will be able to build, grow, empower a food secure future together.
Previously, she worked at Teach For Canada, a non-profit organization that recruits, supports, and prepares educators to teach in Northern Indigenous communities. There, she worked alongside First Nations education leaders to ensure education to Indigenous youth is being delivered in a good way.
Julia is also a graduate student at the University of Victoria, where she is currently completing the Master of Public Health program, with a concentration in Indigenous Peoples’ health.

ABOUT THE COMPANY
Formerly known as Project Growing North, Green Iglu built its first Growing Dome in Naujaat, NU in 2015. Since then, they have been at the forefront of agriculture in Canada’s North. With beginnings at Ryerson University as an Enactus social impact project, Green Iglu is now recognized as a Canadian Non-Profit organization and operate multiple food production facilities across Northern Canada.
