Clara Wilshire is a Nutrition Educator for the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program, EFNEP for short. She graduated from Cal State San Bernardino with a B.S. degree in Health Education and Promotion. Ms. Wilshire is married to an SBCUSD teacher and has 4 children. She is employed by the UC Cooperative Extension for over 27 years. She began to work part-time at the Cooperative Extension while going to school. For the last 22 years, she has been working with the Adult and Youth Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program.

Working with the EFNEP program has influenced how she feeds her family and incorporates healthy lifestyle practices. She feels it’s very important to lead by example and try to practice what she teaches. Over the years she has learned to adjust and adapt special nutritional needs. 2 of her children have food allergies to milk and eggs and she had to learn to ensure that her children’s nutritional needs were met with alternative protein and calcium sources. This has been instrumental when sharing nutrition information to her students. She teaches how to make healthy food choices and hopes these skills will take with them into adulthood.
